My light bulb moment

Holidays are a great time for reflecting. Over the break, I’ve been revisiting my motivations for starting the Pure Hacking business more than a decade ago.

Certainly to be a success and provide for my family was a big driver. However, there was another compelling motivator - the challenge. I knew that starting, growing and running my own business were probably the biggest challenges I could take on. Stress is a word that comes to mind. My ‘light bulb’ moment came this summer when I realised that these challenges have also given me the most remarkable opportunities for personal growth and development. The constant learning curve, the ever changing dynamics of business, the highs and lows have allowed me to develop as a person and business owner.

Watching team members learn new skills and reach business and personal goals has also been a source of great pride.

To reach a milestone of 10 years of operations needs some explanation and recognition of the great wins and team members over the years. For the staff that started their journey with Pure Hacking and may now be elsewhere, thanks for helping us reach the position we are in today. And for the current team I particularly want to thank you for your initiative, drive and willingness to be the best that you can be.

It’s because of you that I have this drive. It’s because of you that our clients recognise our skillset and flexibility to get the job done. It’s because of you we have a world class team that gets me up, drives me forward, pushes and pulls my leadership and ultimately inspires me to lead such a sensational business.

I’m very proud of our thousands of successful security reviews for systems, networks, devices, applications in every industry sector you could name. I’m intensely proud too of our consistently high customer satisfaction results.

Hackers, cybercriminals and hactivists can cause untold damage to a business, its brand and reputation. Globally, hacking costs businesses billions every year and the hacking community continues to up the ante, becoming more audacious and sophisticated. Consequently, there is more demand than ever for our services. I am constantly working with the team and our special advisers to expand our solutions and tailored offerings to make the necessary investments in people and acquisitions in tools and businesses we need to keep our clients safe.

For our clients I can promise that the next 10 years will be full of highly dedicated, security professionals to keep your business information safe. We will grow as your business grows. We will protect your organisation and its ability to continue to operate and generate revenue. For our government clients, we will protect the critical services that enable our society to function. Both of these industries are directly related to our quality of life and Pure Hacking’s role is to ensure that our collective quality of life gets better and better.

So, after ten years at the helm of Pure Hacking, I can honestly say that pride is my overwhelming sentiment. We are a growing business, creating new jobs and developing solutions based on the world class knowledge of our team.

I’m looking forward to the next decade with passion, commitment and enthusiasm because nothing can get in the way of a man determined.
